We have always told Austin that he was the luckiest boy ever,
see, he has the biggest family and has sooooo many people that love him
its incredible!
This week our words were proven to be true. Saturday, Austin was
flown by helicopter to FMC where he continues to fight for his life....
But let me back up a little real quick,
ever since Austin was a little boy he has had pretty bad asthma
and he has scared us a few times because of it.
But nothing like this.
Austin had a little cold the last week, and along with
a night out for homecoming with some friends,
helping his step dad with the horses and
the local pharmacies not having his preventative meds-
Austin had a severe attack that caused his respiratory
system to stop working. He stopped breathing and his mom had to give him
rescue breaths while his step dad ran in to a friends house to get help.
This friend just happens to be a trained EMT and who we will
forever be grateful to, saved his life that night.
When an ambulance was called, his dad,(my brother Brad) who is on the fire dept, was
dispatched to the scene of a 15 year old boy who had stopped breathing.
Brad says the thought came to him it might be Austin,
but not until he heard Jennifer call him while Brad was trying to
clear the way for the chopper and he saw
Austin laying on the sidewalk did he know it was Austin.
These last few days Austin has had to fight, and fight hard for his life.
Three times we have almost lost him. After the 3rd time they told us we needed to gather
the family to say our good byes.
It was the hardest afternoon of my life.
Family members started rolling in. Little by little
and prayer by prayer Austin has continued to get better.
The hospital hall was crowded with people there to
give their love and support to Austin, the most loved boy in town.
People who don't even know Austin have been praying for him.
Almost the whole school has joined together in wearing gray
(the asthma awareness color) and fasting for him.
His facebook friends are leaving him messages
of encouragement on his wall, a day of praying for Austin was
added to fb, and at last check we were close to 500 people,
kids from other schools and friends of his friends and people across the country
are praying for him!
A benefit dinner and auction is going to be held here in town
on November 19th (this is the new date!)4-7pm.
You can bet I am going to be there-
sitting next to Austin!
So please everyone continue to pray for this young man
who we all love SO MUCH!!!
He still has a big fight ahead of him, but we know
that through the power of prayer and our loving Heavenly Father,
Austin can wake up and come home to us.
Austin is the son of Brad Bushman and Jennifer Westover.
Step mom Tiffany Bushman and Step dad Kenny Westover.
Austin has 4 little brothers and 2 little sisters
who look up to him and absolutely adore him.
His grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins
are crazy about how awesome he is and are some of his
biggest fans.
Austin loves being outdoors: camping, hunting, riding,
and he LOVES playing basketball!
If anyone ever needed a friend or a helping hand, Austin
is always right there, because Austin is a true friend:)
Be strong Austin. Be brave and don't give up.
Know that we are all praying and fighting with you.
Your Heavenly Father is with you and He
is helping you through this.
(Austin with one of his little brothers at the county fair
doing 4-H)
LOVE YOU TONS AUSTONIE!!!

Praying for Him and your family Jessica (((HUGS)))
Beautiful post, Jessica. We've been praying along with many others. He is a special young man, I'm sure he has angels watching over him.
Would you mind if I posted a link to this on FB just so people can put a face with the name they are praying for? (I understand if you don't want your blog that public)
that would be fine Velika, and thank you so much for all your prayers!
Hang in there. Our love and prayers are with you all!
Been praying for him everyday! Not an hour goes by that he doesn't pop into my mind. Such a touching story that is obviously close to my heart with Branson being so ill recently. I hope he is back to doing the things he loves very soon! Keep holding on! Love you Bushmans! and Westovers... and everyone else!
Alicia text me and said they had to change the date of the benefit to the following Saturday so it won't conflict with State Football! We are so lucky to be a part of Austin's lives. And super blessed to have so many people praying for him! Good job on the post Jet! I love you!
oh my gosh I love this post! He's so adorable. I'm so glad to hear he's doing better. So glad he has so much love and support and prayers going his way. You guys are such a great family!
