Founders Day

This year we didn't do that much for Founders Day, but what we did do was fun. Beau took Hayden out for his first turkey shoot. (My awesome friend Kristal took these pics for me since I didn't go. I'm so glad she did because I just love them and think they are so cute.) Hayden had some big shoes to fill. Back in the day when little Beau was in the turkey shoot- he won like every year and one year they tried to tell him that he missed one of his shots. Little Beau of course knew better- he doesn't miss- upon further investigation of the targets it was discovered that he had actually hit one of his spots twice. in exactly the same spot.
Unfortunately Hayden was not quit ready to fill daddy's shoes. He did a few shots and did awesome- the little man is like a mini sniper I am told- then took off to play with his friend.
Of course Big Beau couldn't let the opportunity pass him by to try out the turkey shoot for himself. And we now have a 20 pound turkey in our freezer.
Me, Tanner and Mason walked to the tractor show. (I know- your shocked I walked that far... sorry to disappoint you but it was just across the street -ut I did stand the whole time I was there, like 30 minutes. thats good for me. normally my max is 3.) The boys had fun. Especially Mason. He is a huge tractor nut! So I took a pic of him on this sweet orange tractor. I told him to smile for the camera. He automatically assumed his normal camera pose. Eyes squeezed together. Mason wanted me to climb on the tractor with him. I told him no, mama wasn't going to climb up there. Then this old sweet man walked by and told me there was a stirrup in the back I could stand on. Poor old guy. His eyes (and his mind) must be mad. The stirrup surely would've broken had I tried to climb in it. And what ever made him think I could pull myself up- I don't know- maybe he was planning on giving me a boost! This was just the 2nd time in a LONG time that we missed the bar-b-que and auction. The first time was 3 years ago on the 25th because I was in the hospital with Mason. He was born at 7:37 am the morning of Founders Day Celebrations. He is our little founders day baby.
This time we didn't make it because we were having a semi-family lunch at the Tubbs and I didn't mind missing the bar-b-que because this little girl in me doesn't like bar-b-que and my dad isn't the fire chief anymore. We ended up missing the auction too, which I was bummed about because thats one of my favorites. Oh well, there is always next year!

just so you know the auction was my least favorite EVER! but yea, the BBQ was good. So they really give you turkeys now? When I won the turkey shoots in HS, they always gave us gift certificates for groceries, I guess to go get our own turkey. At least for 2 of the years they did. Love that they give real turkeys now. YUM! Now I'm going to go make a turkey and mustard sandwich (you know how cravings go)
