Cub Scoutin'

Since Beau is the scoutmaster and Hayden is in scouts this year we have been busy. Last month was the Blue and Gold Banquet. Last year we just ordered a bunch of pizzas but Beau wanted to go all out this time-so he did! Beau enlisted his dad, Mike and Sam (Lexi's bf) and we had dutch oven turkey, with corn, fried potatoes, dutch oven biscuits, and for dessert-dutch oven cobblers and ice cream (special thanks to Uncle Virgil and Aunt Kari for those! yummy!) Are you hungry yet? The den leaders did the decorations and they really outdid themselves...they looked great! I guess its true what they say about turkey making you sleepy...Tanner was ready for bed after dinner! The dinner and night was amazing! Beau is already planning the menu for next year!
Next we have Hayden's 1st ever pinewood derby! Hayden and Beau picked a style and worked on the whole thing together. I told Beau as long as the car makes it to the end of the track I'd be happy. (Its so sad when the boys cars don't make it.)
Hayden picked the color. I was hoping for the candy grape color but he said that was too girly- it still turned out awesome!
Beau was in charge of starting each race. He did an excellent job- it wasn't his first time though- so he's a pro by now!
Hayden is just growing up so fast! It makes me sad but so happy to watch him. He is such a good kid! If I could freeze my kids in time it would be now. I love the ages they are each at! Why do they have to grow up so dang fast! :(
Hayden's car did great! Not only did it make it down the track...he came in 2nd overall and 1st in his den! He only lost one race!
Yea Hayden! We are so proud of you!
